Vehicles (Part Two)

In part 1 of this vehicles post, I talked about 5th Wheelers and Road Trains. I am doing part two because I saw that people liked part one. In this second post I am going to talk about Trains and Cars. I have seen more big four wheel drives than I do in big cities because they can pull caravans and can go on dirt roads.

I have spent a lot of time looking out the window as we drive along, looking at cars as they drive along the road some are huge! and some are quite small. I am doing this post because I find vehicles very interesting and thought I might share some information with you. I like vehicles because you can go very fast in a car and the wheels carry you along.  Some people have stuff on their roof and some tow a camper trailer or a caravan.

Trains

On this trip I have seen quite a lot of trains some of them have been freight trains and some of them have been passenger trains.

I will first talk about the Ghan, we saw the Ghan stopped in Alice Springs. The Ghan is a train that goes from Adelaide to Darwin stopping at Alice Springs.  Below are some stats of the Ghan:

The Family who went on a Holiday (part two)

Water Hole at Davenport Ranges

After the family went to Uluru they drove to Alice Springs and got to hold a baby red kangaroo and they did some jobs (like shopping, washing, school work and exploring).

Traveling up the highway they soon came to the Davenport Ranges, the family had to drive in on dirt road, it took quite a while but they made it. When they got there it was magnificent. There was a waterhole that the kids played in the water and did some painting. They also did some bike riding.

Two Trees in the middle of Roper River at Elsey N.P

Next they headed for Elsey National Park. On the way, they spent the night at a rest stop for a night. While they were at Elsey N.P., they had a very good time, including a visit to Mataranka hot springs. At Mataranka hot springs the family worked out that the water came out of the ground at 30 degrees celsius. Continue reading “The Family who went on a Holiday (part two)”

Hits and misses on this trip

I have been away from home for 3 months and I have made some new discoveries about being on the road. Some of the discoveries are good things and some are bad things.

I miss the mower because I like putting the trailer on when there is a big pile of mulch and driving to the garden. I also like mowing the lawn.

Me looking at my speedo

I miss the rain and the puddles because they are fun to bike ride through and get splashed and sometimes I fall over.

I like being in new places a lot because then you get to explore new place just about every day. I also like riding my bike every day.

I like Sleeping in a tent because it is more snuggly and I feel the breeze better. Continue reading “Hits and misses on this trip”

Vehicles (part one)

I would like to tell you about two types of vehicles I have seen so far. The first one is about Road Trains, I have seen them in the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The second one about   5th  wheelers. I have seen them in the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

Road trains

On this trip I have seen heaps of Road Trains, they are just like normal trucks but have up to three to four trailers.

Interesting facts:

  • They can be up to 54 metres long
  • So far I have seen them in the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

The Family Who Went On A Holiday

There once was a family who decided to go on a trip around Australia for seven months. It took a lot of planning but finally on the 8/6/18, they hit the road. It was a very exciting day.

There first destination was the Murray River near Berri in South Australia, they stayed there for three nights. The family had brought their bikes and rode along some bike tracks. They also did some walking.

Just about to enter the Oodnadatta track in Marree

To get to Coober Pedy they took the Oodnadatta track, the track was so long they had to camp by the side of the road, near an old homestead next to the old Ghan railway.

When they woke up they kept on going down the Oodnadatta track. They went through a few towns and then turned down William Creek road and went all the way to Coober Pedy. They stayed at a caravan park.
